TWO COMMUNITY GARDENS

The Rural Community Garden
Opened in 2011, Chestermere’s first community garden is located south of Chestermere High School on a private acreage generously donated by the Nagy family. Initially starting with just 12 plots, the garden has expanded to 27, becoming a thriving hub for local gardeners. Supported by residents, volunteers, and the Chestermere Regional Food Bank, this garden fosters a strong sense of community and provides a space for informal gatherings and shared experiences. It is a shining example of Chestermere’s mission to create a welcoming and innovative community.

The Urban Community Garden
Opened in the spring of 2016, the Urban Community Garden is located at the corner of West Lakeview Point and West Lakeview Drive. With 34 plots, the garden is primarily tended by Chestermere residents, with some plots dedicated to the Chestermere Regional Food Bank. This project has flourished with the support of local volunteers, City Council, Chestermere Parks, and key funding partners like TD Friends of the Environment Foundation, Walmart, and AltaLink. The Urban Community Garden offers another opportunity for residents to connect with nature and each other in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Both gardens are symbols of Chestermere’s commitment to building a connected, sustainable community, providing spaces for residents to grow both plants and relationships.
